Butterflies of Quepos

All of the butterflies provided in the butterfly list below were seen during a delightful four days that the authors* spent tromping around and exploring the habitats surrounding the Quepos Hot Springs Lodge at Plantation la Palma. We were there from March 11 to March 14 in 2003. We netted the butterflies, identified them using DeVries’ manuals, and then released them back to the wild. These are but a few of the thousands of butterfly species found in Costa Rica. We hope this guide is useful to other butterfly aficionados enjoying the natural wonders of Costa Rica.
